CMS does a wider update on all CPT/HCPCS codes and Modifiers. They are updated quarterly with the 1/1/2025 link found here: https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coding-billing/healthcare-common-procedure-system/quarterly-update. Once download this file, open the excel sheet labeled "HCPC2025_JAN_ANWEB_12172024", this is a very comprehensive listing for any practice.
Great question. The answer is every year and in fact twice a year CMS HCPCS Common Work group revisits existing codes and also issues edits on exisiting codes, deletes obsolete codes and adds new HCPCS codes for products which don't have an adequate description.
So in fact yes there are new HCPCS codes for 2025 which were recently announced which will go into effect immediately. Unfortunately they may not be on the fee schedule as of yet, so it may need to be priced and considered individually (IC).
For the most part, the codes effecting podiatry have to do with devices which passively flex and extend toes and/or the ankle.
These have been modified from flexion and extension, to flexion and another for extension. The argument sucessfully made that these require two separate devices.
